Raising the age limit for assisted reproduction with a new decision

Announcement of the National Authority for Medically Assisted Reproduction regarding the increase of the age limit of Law 4812/2021

According to article three of Law 4812/2021 (Government Gazette 110 / A / 30.06.2021), for a period of two (2) years from the publication of the law, is until 30.06.2023, after a reasoned consent of the National Principle of Medically Assisted Reproduction, according to article 4 of law 3305/2005 (A ’17) the age limit of permissible assisted reproduction in case the assisted person is a woman, can be increased by two (2) years, ie up to fifty-second (52nd) year of age completed “.
Following this provision, according to which the application of a method of medically assisted reproduction in a woman over 50 years of age up to the age of 52 years requires the permission of the National Authority of Medically Assisted Reproduction, for this purpose it is submitted to the National Authority of Medically Assisted Reproduction:
. Application either directly from the interested parties to submit to a method of medically assisted reproduction persons or through a Medically Assisted Reproduction Unit after a relevant authorization.
. Copy of police ID of the woman who will undergo a method of medically assisted reproduction.

It is clarified that the age limit for permissible assisted reproduction in case the assisted person is a woman, can be increased by two (2) years, ie until the fifty-second (52nd) year of age and zero days on the day of embryo transfer.
Finally, it is clarified that in the case of the surrogate mother, the woman who is about to conceive must be over twenty-five (25) years old and up to forty-five (45) years old, while the woman who wishes to have a child by her method surrogate mother falls under the above provision and may be up to fifty two (52) years old.
